2012 Toyota Camry Hybrid Air Filter Replacement

Toyota recommends replacing your air filter every 30,000 miles on most vehicles. Fortunately, this is an easy process. The following instructions document air filter replacement on a 2012 Toyota Camry Hybrid.

Parts Required

New filter

All you need is a replacement air filter. I bought this “Spearhead” MT-677 filter for my Camry Hybrid. Regular non-hybrid Camrys of this generation take a slightly different filter, but the procedure is basically the same.

When you pop the hood, the Camry Hybrid’s air filter is just to the right of the gas motor. I circled it in red in the picture above.

The Camry’s air filter housing, like with most Toyotas, is in a fairly large box with a lid on it. These metal clips hold the lid in place. You simply pull back on each of them to pop them off.

Once the clips are popped off, the housing simply lifts up to expose the old air filter.

At this point, simply lift the old filter out of the housing and replace it with the new one. 2012 Toyota Camry Hybrid air filter replacement is an easy procedure you can do yourself and save a few bucks in labor at the mechanic.

While doing this job, also consider doing other periodic maintenance on your Camry Hybrid, such as replacing the cabin air filter, changing the spark plugs, and changing the inverter coolant. We’ll be publishing guides on these procedures soon.
